My objective in attending Frieze is to line up new Experts for my artist empowering course, Klein Artist Works and wow did I score. Simon de Pury of Phillips de Pury auction house and the star of Work of Art has agreed; as have Ai Weiwei's compatriot and dealer, Christophe Mao, who has galleries in New York City and Beijing; and Daniela Steinfeld of Van Horn Gallery in Dusseldorf.
Unfortunately, I've missed several hometown Chicago shows I would have previewed for an ArtLetter (Doug Fogelson at The Historic Water Tower, A. Laurie Palmer at ThreeWalls, and Versionfest.)
But the main story is the Frieze Art Fair and the impresivle location, venue, galleries, art and attention to detail. You get to Frieze, on Randall Island, by the boat or by shuttle, and arrive at a serpentine tent in a pastoral setting with beautiful light, high ceilings, great contemporary galleries, knowledgeable and known attendees, and a pervasive glow on the art, the people and the show.
We'll let the pictures tell the story.
I'm off to see more art now
Thanks very much!

I have looked at several reports on Frieze. Yours is superb. Thank you for being there for me. Monika W.
Looks like a fantastic show. Thanks for the great pictures Paul. For those of us that couldn't be there, we get to have a bit of the experience.
Makes me misty about the days, about 25 or so years ago, when Navy Pier would be bursting at the seams with art (and collectors) around this time of year...
Thanks for posting these... I had a bit of an art trip without leaving my kitchen counter. With thanks. Cathi
Dear Paul: You are providing a great service for those of us who remember, embrace and/or need to know more about less. Congratulations. XXX, Linda
That was great. I'm glad I got the chance to at least catch a glimpse of the fair. Thanks for posting these pics!
So glad you are posting these pictures of the fair. It really shows the work well, and gives us stay at homes a look at the art. Your audience appreciates you!
Hi Paul,
Thanks for taking us along on the photo tour of the Frieze. It reminds me of another favorite art fairs held, I believe in 1993, Art Chicago, organized by Thomas Blackman, which was held in a gigantic tent, and benefited from copious amounts of daylight filtered through the tent ceiling.
Best wishes for a great summer.
Steve
