TimeOut Chicago TimeOut has become the go-to place for art reviews and news on the Chicago Art Scene. Worthy.
CAR (Chicago Artists Resource) This is a wonderful tool created and enabled by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. It is a guide for artists on how to improve their art, careers, living situations, work practices and on and on. It is thorough and being emulated by many other cities, but it happened here first.
Bad At Sports This is a team of artist-journalists who do weekly podcasts about Chicago art that you can play on your computer. They are really good! (They interviewed me in the Fall of ‘05 - listen here)
re-title.com This is cool - good coverage of the au currant, hip art in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris. Which amply indicates a point I’ve been making.
Iconoduel October 14, 2004, Paul Klein's Latest Venture, At the beginning of September, Paul Klein (formerly of Klein Art Works, which closed up shop this past May) started up Art Letter, through which he will offer regular run-downs of current and upcoming Chicago gallery offerings in the form of an email newsletter with web archive:
Simpleposie Wednesday, October 20, 2004, simpleposie question for the day #238 Via Iconoduel, simpleposie has discovered a new site for reviews and a discussion forum out of Chicago called Art Letter. Here you'll find some interesting (if somewhat cantankerous) threads on the subject of art career descriptive terminology like "Mid Career" and "Emerging ". These categories do seem to have become a little ubiquitous. Recently on Sally McKay's Blog Lisa Deanne Smith quipped "... As an emerging artist at 40 who chose to have a kid so doesn't have much time to emerge... I have always felt I'm in the wrong time... missed that, too old for that..." simpleposie wants to know: How do you feel about categories like "Emerging, Mid Career and Senior Artist"?

Middlebury College Artswriting Class Here's an example of someone writing on the Web about art to get people who live in his city (Chicago) out of their houses and into art galleries. Paul Klein's Art Letter also gets people writing about what they see. And talking to one another, trying to articulate what they like or don't like about what they see, what they understand or don't understand. Take a look, for instance, at the discussion he started about ans with artists on his forum. What is your response to Paul? You can write to him via ArtLetter.com and then copy your response right here. You can also join his <>and jump into one of the discussions unfolding there.
